This verse also reminds you who the enemy is. This verse stirs you up and reminds you that you are not a victim and you are not powerless. Take mine! It's great because it reminds you that you are not powerless even when all you want to do is claim the role of the victim and cry. You need a power verse for those moments. Then I’d pull it together and cling to this verse again and declare my marriage would succeed! I would declare it and then freak out and call my godmother crying making sure I could come home if it all fell apart. You need a power verse! Something you can declare and cling to over and over as you navigate the emotional rollercoaster that comes with working on a struggling marriage. These love verses reflect how the Father is towards you. Your view of this verse must start with the Father and His love for you. In truth, it’s not meant to be a benchmark for you to strive alone to meet. I am aware this can be an intimidating checklist of all of the things we are are not. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything.
It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking it is not touchy or fretful or resentful it takes no account of the evil done to it. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride) it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. 2 - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a Love endures long and is patient and kind love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. I start here because my breakthrough came when I returned to the truth of how beloved I was by God. We love when we realize how loved we are. It’s also not something you can muster up on your own, at least not God’s kind of love.
